Who I Am

I am a mission-driven executive leader and fierce advocate with a trauma-informed foundation rooted in social work, and more than 25 years of progressive leadership in community impact, systems-change strategy, coalition building, and resource development. Advocacy is not just what I do, it is who I am. And it drives every engagement.

I approach consulting as an opportunity to advocate on behalf of my clients and their organizations. I see myself as their champion and #1 advocate, with the best interests of the organization and the people they serve at heart.

I began my career in the movement to end gender-based violence, providing direct services and systems advocacy at local domestic violence and sexual assault programs.

My start in direct services and working with survivors has never left me; it informed how I listen, how I lead, and how I build a strategy that is grounded in the realities of the people organizations exist to serve.

As founding Executive Director of The Athlete Survivors’ Assist, I built the organization’s infrastructure from the ground up and cultivated international partnerships with FIFA, the IOC, the Centre for Sport and Human Rights, the World Players Association, and other global organizations. I served as Co-creator and Vice Chair of the FIFA Foundation’s YourSide Independent Panel, the world’s first independent support service that provides confidential, trauma-informed guidance to victims, survivors, and whistleblowers of abuse in football. I am a published chapter author: ‘Nothing About Us Without Us, Athlete Survivor Voice is Paramount to Making Sport Safer’ in Protecting the Beauty of the Game: Towards a Safeguarding Culture (2025).

Through Blackbird Consulting, I bring this full depth of experience to nonprofits and other social-impact organizations of all sizes, from small community organizations to national associations and international bodies. I have facilitated strategic planning, led executive searches, developed curricula, coached boards and CEOs, written federal grant proposals, and guided organizations through crises, transitions, and transformations.

Over the course of my career, I have led large, complex organizations at the state, national, and international levels. I secured and stewarded tens of millions of dollars in grants from foundations and federal agencies, including OVW, CDC, and OVC.

As a survivor of childhood trauma, I am a fierce advocate whose personal experience with the impact of sexual assault and domestic violence has translated into a lifelong commitment to listening to survivors, holding perpetrators and the systems that support them accountable, and building organizations capable of doing the same.
